Life on Skylab – America’s Space Station
America’s only space station – Skylab – was cobbled together using surplus Apollo program parts and launched into orbit on May 14, 1973.
In the course of the three crewed missions to Skylab conducted between May 25, 1973 and Feb. 8, 1974, crews set records for time in orbit, living aboard the station for 28, 59 and 84 days. Astronauts completed around 2,000 hours of experiments and captured tens of thousands of photographs. Retronaut has more on Skylab along with photos.
