Johnny Cash was the first American to hear about Stalin’s death

(via The Vintage News)  Before he was “The Man in Black” singer songwriter Johnny Cash was “the boy in uniform”.  18-year old Cash enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 7, 1950.  After basic and technical training, Cash was assigned to the 12th Radio Squadron Mobile of the U.S. Air Force Security Service at Landsberg, West Germany.  Cash showed amazing skills at cracking Morse Code so he was put in a leading seat at the Landsberg post to monitor in on Soviet communications.
