The Goodyear Blimp Has a Ghostly, Mysterious Past
(via Popular Mechanics) In 1942, a U.S. Navy airship flew over the Golden Gate, its mission to search for Japanese submarines. Hours later, it would crash into a house just south of San Francisco, its crew missing. What happened to the two man crew of the L-8 airship, which would later become the Goodyear Blimp, is a mystery.
