Rediscovering the Blazingly Bright Colors of Ancient Sculptures

(via Atlas Obscura)  We’ve grown accustomed to seeing classical ancient sculptures in every color… of stone and bronze.  Statues were made out of marble and bronze so naturally they would be the color of their media.  That wasn’t always the case.  Polychromy—painting sculpture or architecture with color—was widespread in antiquity.
