Why is it so hard to design a better paper cup?

(via The Week) You go to the coffee shop and take your coffee to go. You enjoy your drink, then throw the paper cup in the trash. Or do you put it in the recycling? It’s confusing. Why is it so hard to design a new paper cup that’s good for the environment?
