Fort Stanwix Opening – May 22, 1976
RETRO ROME – Ft. Stanwix dedication, May 22, 1976. The reconstructed Revolutionary War outpost was first opened to the public on March 12, 1976. This dedication highlighted events that were held in New York State commemorating America’s Bicentennial.
Empire State Games Opening Ceremony – RFA Stadium – July 25, 2001
RETRO ROME – Opening ceremony of the 24th Empire State Games, July 25, 2001 at RFA Stadium. The event featured a performance by rock band Collective Soul, a flyover by the State Air National Guard’s 174th Fighter Squadron, the lighting of the torch and fireworks to conclude the festivities. The games were held in various venues throughout the Mohawk Valley from July 26-29, 2001.
